This image greeted us as we entered the One Workplace building. It was a huge building that used to be a Paper warehouse and then retrofitted to be this awesome showroom/office that it is today. Joanne, welcomed us with a warm smile and showed us directly to building's cafe area to settle in. The cafe was just around a couple of meters away from the lobby. It was a colorful area filled with mostly furniture from which One Workplace represents, Steelcase. People were really nice, everybody were greeting us as they passed.
We were having a bit of a breakfast when Lesley arrived and showed us around. It was nice seeing all the furniture that we have been working with, in person finally. I personally like this lounge chair called the Hosu, and it was everything I expected it to be!
A formal introduction and tour then started with Graham. He had a nice little presentation for us regarding what One Workplace is all about. We then toured the whole office, walking around and learning all about the areas and the people working there.
We were then introduced to, if not all, most of the Designers we work with. I've been working with One Workplace for a little over a year now and putting a face in front of the e-mails and phone calls was really great.
After the introductions, we were supposed to sit-in and shadow the Designers we usually work with. I, myself is fortunate enough to have been asigned to StudioOne. It's the Design Conepts division of One Workplace that consists of Helen, Vivian, Jenevieve, Sandra, and, Robert whom I directly support. This division is headed by Ivy Cheuk, who along with team tackle mostly One Workplace's design-oriented projects.
It was fun witnessing how they start from receiving a project to conceptualizing it to actually working on the presentation. Helen and Vivian were nice enough to let me in the process and being receptive of my ideas. We ended the day having three options to work, and present with.
It was a very good day.
